The Sundance Film Festival: Hong Kong will host its 5th edition this year, celebrating Hong Kong audiences' passion for independent films and its spirit.

Building on the immensely successful experiences we've had in the past four years, the fifth edition of Sundance Film Festival: Hong Kong is back bigger and bolder than ever.

As champions of a strong independent film culture in Hong Kong, we will continue to collaborate with Sundance Institute for the Short Film Competition, panel discussions and master class. We look forward to continuing our close partnership with Sundance Institute in growing this world-class film festival into an annual unmissable event for Hong Kong cinephiles.

Directors of The Metroplex

It's always a pleasure to bring the latest independent voices – original and diverse – to Hong Kong's creative and energetic audiences. The work we showcase at the Sundance Film Festival has been carefully crafted, and takes on new meaning as it is shared. As you approach the festival, my hope is that you embrace these stories, letting each become your own. My thanks to the artists, our partners at The Metroplex and all of our supporters for making it possible.

President and Founder of Sundance Institute

Our Hong Kong lineup of independent films direct from the Sundance Film Festival continues to connect filmmakers and their unique stories to new audiences on the other side of our world. We are excited to include the winners of our Hong Kong Short Film Competition alongside other feature-length award winners, as well as exciting panels geared towards emerging local filmmakers and our growing ranks of Sundance film fans.

Director of Sundance Film Festival
