The Metroplex and Sundance Institute are bringing back the Sundance Film Festival: Hong Kong Short Film Competition for the third time, and it is now open for submissions to Hong Kong filmmakers.
The previous two editions of the competition have been a motivating success, with hundreds of entries from local filmmakers demonstrating diversity, immense talent and vision. The short films previously showcased in the Sundance Film Festival: Hong Kong short film program were highly praised not only by our professional panel of judges, but also by fellow filmmakers and audiences.
The directors of previous Jury Award-winning shorts, "Trumpet Man" (2016) and "Eye Bags" (2017), also were selected to bring their work to the Sundance Film Festival in Utah, to share their stories and inspirations with international audiences and filmmakers, and showcase the talent, skills and potential of a new generation of Hong Kong filmmakers.

All Hong Kong permanent residents aged 18 or above are eligible to enter the competition. There are no limitations on story or genres. All entries must have been completed on or after 1 January 2017, with durations between 3 to 15 minutes.
